Johnson, Newlon & DeCort Adds Veteran Securities Litigation Team

Johnson, Newlon & DeCort is pleased to announce that Kacy Donlon and Elaine Rice have joined the firm as partners.

At the firm, Kacy and Elaine will continue their commercial litigation practice with a focus on representing institutional and individual clients in the financial services industry, including registered representatives, officers, and directors. In addition to FINRA arbitrations, Kacy and Elaine represent their clients in state and federal courts as well as in investigatory and enforcement proceedings before state, federal and self-regulatory agencies. Kacy will also continue her representation of the Receiver in the EquiAlt Receivership based in the Middle District of Florida.

Kacy is originally from Alabama where she clerked for District Court Judge Seybourn Lynne in Birmingham before starting her legal practice in Tampa. She is the immediate past President of the Florida Securities Dealers Association and the incoming Chair for the Business Law Section of the Florida Bar. Kacy is a past president of the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Federal Bar Association who in 2010 awarded her its highest award, the George C. Carr award, for excellence in federal practice and service to the Federal Bar. Admitted in both Florida and Alabama, she is AV Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America and a Super Lawyer. Kacy graduated summa cum laude from Birmingham-Southern College and earned her J.D. cum laude from Washington and Lee University School of Law.

Elaine has decades of experience representing FINRA member firms, investment advisors, financial institutions, registered representatives, officers, and directors in federal and state courts as well as FINRA arbitrations. Originally from Michigan, she began her legal career in the complex litigation group of Gardere & Wynne in Dallas and remains a member of the Texas Bar. In 2001, Elaine moved to Florida, where she has spent the last two decades growing her commercial and securities litigation and arbitration practice with a focus on financial services industry clients. Elaine is AV Peer Rated by Martindale Hubbell and has been recognized by the Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers of Florida and Florida Trend’s Legal Elite. She is also a proud Wolverine, having graduated with High Distinction from The University of Michigan and earned her J.D. from The University of Michigan Law School.
