John E. “Sean” Johnson

Sean is a partner at Johnson, Newlon & DeCort, P.A. His practice involves commercial litigation, employment contract enforcement and negotiation, regulatory litigation and investigation, commercial torts, intellectual property litigation, professional negligence/liability, banking litigation, officer and director and corporate litigation. Sean has tried jury trials and bench trials – in state and federal courts – and arbitrations in a broad variety of commercial disputes including dealership contracts, replevins, securities, product liability, supply contracts, advertising contracts, trademarks and intellectual property, unfair competition, trade secrets, deceptive and unfair trade practices, fraud, restrictive covenants, shareholder disputes, corporate dissolutions, whistleblower actions, and matters under the Uniform Commercial Code. Sean is also a Florida Certified Mediator and a Certified Mediator of the Florida Middle District Court.

Sean has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© every year since 2014. For the years 2016, 2018, and 2024, Sean was named the Best Lawyers 2016© Tampa Litigation – Banking and Finance “Lawyer of the Year” in Tampa, Florida. In 2022, Sean was named “Lawyer of the Year” in Tampa Litigation – Securities. Only one lawyer in the community is recognized each year as “Lawyer of the Year” for a given practice area.
